Put a rental contract on hold, with billing that stays correct

Sometimes the car is genuinely not with the customer. A hold records why, how long, and takes those days out of the bill.

When to use a hold

Each hold records the reason, a reference number and optional notes. Resuming records the end of the hold and adds the days to the contract's total hold days.

How billing stays right

Billable days are reduced by the hold days (rounded up). On a 10-day booking with 1.8 hold days, base rent is billed for 8 days, not 10. The contract shows the hold count as a smart button, so staff see it at a glance.

Frequently asked questions

Does a hold cause problems with the contract?

No. The contract stays open, and the hold only changes the billable days.

Can I see how long it was on hold?

Yes. The contract keeps a total hold days figure and a list of holds.
